In the 1960’s, when the Christie School was on the verge of closing its doors, one of the agency’s trustees rallied community support and spearheaded a campaign to construct new facilities for the children – thus ensuring the School would remain open. That trustee’s name was Maybelle Clark Macdonald.

Some forty years later, Mrs. Macdonald’s pioneering vision as a community builder carries on through the outstanding work of her foundation. In recent years, ChristieCare – as the organization is now known – has used Macdonald Fund grants to leverage and strengthen the development efforts of board members, volunteers and staff. Guided by the Fund’s innovative model of constituent-led fundraising, proceeds from ChristieCare’s major annual event have more than tripled in just three years. In addition, Macdonald Fund leverage grants have empowered a key ChristieCare partner – the Oregon Chapter of the Professional Golfers Association – to raise critical funds for children and families at pro-am tournaments throughout the state over the last two years.

The support of Mrs. Macdonald and her foundation has truly been a major force in helping ChristieCare grow into a leading provider of mental health services in Oregon’s communities.
